Since we last covered the California drought, conditions in the state have stayed, well, dry—very dry. Statewide, total California precipitation over the past three years is near or lower than any other three-year period since 1895.

Climate-Smart Conservation: Putting Adaption Principles into Practice

This new report by the National Wildlife Federation looks at how climate change is affecting the nation’s wildlife & habitats, & addresses how natural resource managers need to prepare for and adapt to these unprecedented changes.

This activity leads students through a sequence of learning steps that highlight the embedded energy that is necessary to produce various types of food. Students start by thinking through the components of a basic meal and are later asked to review the necessary energy to produce different types of protein.

This is a team-based activity that teaches students about the scale of the greenhouse gas problem and the technologies that already exist which can dramatically reduce carbon emissions. Students select carbon-cutting strategies to construct a carbon mitigation profile, filling in the wedges of a climate stabilization triangle.
