Extreme Weather: Mitigation & Resiliency to Climate Change
In this free webinar, speakers will discuss mitigation of extreme weather events resulting from climate change.
Dr. Kathleen Tierney, director of the CU Boulder’s Natural Hazards Center, and Dr. Kevin Trenberth from the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research will join facilitators Dr. Anne Gold of CIRES and Deb Morrison of the University Colorado Boulder in an interactive panel discussion about mitigation of extreme weather events resulting from climate change.
These experts will discuss how scientists can forecast where extreme events will occur and their severity. They plan to cover what communities and governments can do to increase resiliency to extreme weather events and how the scientific community can help prepare citizens and government. They also plan to explore how communities can mitigate the effects of climate change by becoming more resilient.
The webinar is scheulded for Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. MST (7 to 9:30 p.m. EST). Please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/webinar-extreme-weather-mitigation-resiliency-to-climate-change-tickets-10282971645
